HOPE Scholarship

BooksHOPE makes Georgia different.  And the HOPE Scholarship Program gives students the promise they need to make a difference in their future.

HOPE stands for Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally.  Since its inception in 1993, more that $3.5 billion in financial assistance have been awarded to more than one million deserving Georgia students  attending state colleges, universities and technical colleges.  Financed by the Georgia Lottery, the scholarship pays for the tuition, books and fees of high-achieving, eligible Georgia students who maintain a "B" average.  The financial aid offices of 105 postsecondary schools in Georgia determine HOPE eligibility.

Education and graduation are the keys to economic prosperity, both for Georgians and the state's economy.  Together they build a strond foundation for today's young people and ensure a future full of hope. 

HOPE Scholarship

If you are a Georgia resident enrolling in a degree program at an eligible Georgia public or private college, university, or public technical college, you may be eligible for the HOPE Scholarship.  Recipients must demonstrate academic achievement.  The award at public institutions covers tuition, HOPE - approved mandatory fees, and a book allowance.  If you wish to enroll in a Georgia private institution, you may be eligible for a $3,500 per academic year scholarship for full-time study or $1750 for half-time study.  (6-11 hours)

HOPE Grant

If you are a Georgia resident enrolling in a technical certificate or diploma program at an eligible Georgia public college, university or public technical college, you may be eligible for the HOPE Grant regradless of high school graduation dates or grade point averages.  The HOPE Grant covers tuition, HOPE - approved mandatory fees and a book allowance.

HOPE GED Grant

Legal residents of Georgia who earned a General Educational Development (GED/high school equivalency) diploma awarded byt the Technical College System of Georgia after June 30, 1993 may receive a one-time $500 HOPE award.  This award can be used toward tuition, books and other educational costs at an eligible Georgia public or provate college, university or public technical colledg in a degree, diploma or certicicate program.
