The DAPC is responsible for the recruitment of new businesses in the areas of industrial, manufacturing, distribution, corporate and regional headquarters, customer service centers, and assistance with other major economic development projects. The DAPC also focuses on existing industries of Peach County to ensure their continued success. While recruitment of new industry is a significant function, aiding in existing industry expansion and retention is just as significant. About 80 percent of new jobs come as a result of existing industry expansion.
Additionally, in planning for growth, Georgia’s municipalities are consistently forward-thinking in their strategies to stay competitive while accommodating their business communities. For example, because congested West Coast ports create more shipping to the Southeast, our coastal communities work hard to accommodate a significant boon for international businesses and the logistics industry. Peach County is ideally situated with quick access to Georgia's deep ports in Savannah.
Increased globalization brings a greater focus on the need for adaptive job training. Peach County supports the Quick Start Program and the Certified Work Ready Program. Quick Start provides customized work-force training free-of-charge to qualified businesses in Georgia. The Work Ready Program assists companies by providing access to long-term, qualified labor pools in the state.
Our local chamber of commerce and economic-development entities know that it’s critical to work together, across regions, to stay competitive and to maximize opportunities for all. We also rely on public-private partnerships and the educational overlay provided by colleges and universities to heighten our markets’ attractiveness.
