THE BEST OF GEORGIA:
TRANSPORTATION ACROSS THE STATE OR AROUND THE WORLD.  GROW IT SWEETER WE GROW IT SWEETER

"You have product to move, we have the connections."
- The State of Georgia

HIGHWAY & GLOBAL ACCESS

Georgia's logistics prowess is indisputable: the state is recognized as the No. 1 state for business for over a decade, an achievement driven in part by its world-class infrastructure and global shipping access. In Peach County, this connectivity starts immediately with direct access to local, regional, and national highways. Interstate 75, a major north-south artery running from Michigan to Florida, passes directly through the county, with the cities of Byron and Fort Valley situated just off its exits. A short drive north, I-75 connects with I-16, providing a straight, three-hour route directly to the deepwater Port of Savannah. Furthermore, being just 100 miles south of Atlanta means convenient access to the entire national interstate system, as the city serves as a hub for five major interstate highways: I-20, I-75, I-85, I-285 (The Perimeter), and I-675. This strategic location guarantees streamlined land travel, ensuring that your products can move to virtually any domestic or international market quickly and efficiently.

AIR SERVICE

For global connectivity, your easy access is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), just a short drive up I-75. As the world's busiest airport, ATL connects you to anywhere in the world, handling over 108 million passengers and approximately 796,000 aircraft operations in 2024 with service from more than 200 gates.

Closer to home, you have two excellent regional options.

First, the Perry-Houston County Airport (PXE) is ready for business. It offers a 5,002-foot asphalt runway and full services, including airframe and powerplant repair, tiedown, and hangar space—perfect for corporate jets. We're proud to note that its major expansion, including a new terminal building and corporate hangar, is complete and operational.

Second, just 26 miles away is the Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MCN). This is a full-service general aviation and commercial service hub that features a 6,500-foot asphalt main runway. MCN is owned by Macon-Bibb County and is an ideal location for all your regional flight needs.

SEAPORTS & CARGO SERVICE

The Port of Savannah, managed by the GPA, is only a three-hour drive from Peach County via I-16 and I-75. It is a major U.S. gateway, recognized as the largest single container terminal in North America and one of the nation's busiest. With its new channel depth of 47 feet, and its position as the most westerly port on the coast, it guarantees shorter transit times for cargo heading to major inland markets. The port offers comprehensive service—including break-bulk, reefer, and RoRo cargo—and is connected globally by shipping lines like Maersk and APL to Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean. Complementing this is the Port of Brunswick (also GPA), the nation's leader for specialized cargo. Its Colonel’s Island Terminal is the busiest port in the U.S. for Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) cargo, primarily new automobiles and heavy equipment. The port recently completed $262 million in improvements and is currently planning for a fourth RoRo berth to solidify its leadership position in this sector.

Extended Access
For maximum flexibility, other major ports are easily accessible by road. The Port of Charleston in South Carolina is about a three-hour drive and features the deepest harbor on the East Coast, with a channel maintained at 52 feet. The Port of Mobile in Alabama is only six hours away, giving you direct access to the Gulf of Mexico and global routes beyond.

RAIL & INTERMODAL SERVICE

Your operations in Peach County are directly served by a major logistical asset: Norfolk Southern. This Class I carrier, which is one of the leading rail companies in the United States and has its headquarters in Atlanta, ensures direct rail access through the county with a line running through the heart of Fort Valley. Furthermore, you have easy access to the entire Eastern U.S. via rail facilities in nearby Macon. This local service is bolstered by an extensive network of intermodal terminals situated across the state of Georgia, including the major regional hubs of Atlanta (Austell and Inman) and Savannah. Savannah is particularly important as it hosts the largest intermodal hub in the Southeastern U.S., connecting the port directly to inland markets. Paired with Georgia's comprehensive highway network, these intermodal connections make it simple and efficient to keep your products moving on time and on budget.
