November 29, 2016

Every so often, all of the local government agencies get together to discuss projects, issues and activities affecting the community as a whole. Today, representatives from multiple agencies met at the Byron Municipal Complex to do just that.
The lunch meeting was hosted by the City of Byron and Mayor Larry Collins provided a warm welcome to all in attendance. Once the invocation was given, everyone enjoyed a delicious meal served by Georgia Bob’s restaurant located in downtown Byron. Following the lunch, presentations and updates were given by Tiffany Peavy, Director of the Economic and Community Development department for the City of Byron; Joseph Okere, Director of Byron Building, Planning and Zoning; BJ Walker, Director of the Development Authority of Peach County and finally Mayor Barbara Williams from the City of Fort Valley. Mayor Larry Collins of Byron invited Mayor Pro Tempore, Michael Chidester to update the group on his behalf.
Towards the end of the event, Byron City Councilman, Michael Chumbley, on behalf of himself and his business partner, Allen Peake, presented a check for $10,000 to Sheriff Terry Deese in honor of the two Peach County Sheriffs who were killed in early November after responding to a disturbance call.
