Open Records Requests
Open Records Request
Filing an open records request in Georgia is a simple process that has become even more accessible due to actions taken by the Georgia legislature over the past few years. Georgia’s updated sunshine laws bring transparency to government records, including meeting minutes, photographs, books, maps, and an assortment of files.
To file an open records request, you may download the Development Authority Peach County Open Records Request Form by clicking here, or you may also write a request yourself. The Development Authority of Peach County will have three (3) business days to determine if the document(s) you request are lawful for public inspection.
If the public record you request doesn’t violate any federal privacy laws, you can access the documents you need for a minimal price. The law requires agencies to make your document experience as affordable as possible. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. §50-18-71, the Development Authority of Peach County may charge for administrative and copying fees for the cost of search, retrieval, copying, redaction, and supervised access to the requested documents. This fee represents the hourly rate of the lowest-paid full-time employee with the necessary skill and training to respond to your request, with no charge for the first fifteen minutes that it takes to respond to the request. The charge for copies is $.10 cents per page for letter and legal-sized documents. If the cost to produce records exceeds $500.00, then you will be required to prepay all costs associated with the retrieval of the records before the request will be processed, or if you have failed to pay for requested records in the past.
Requestors may request records from the Development Authority of Peach County during the regular business hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The requests may be made in person, by mail, or by email. If made by mail, it is recommended that your request be sent via certified mail to ensure delivery and proper receipt. The Development Authority of Peach County will not be responsible for Open Record Requests lost in the mail. For detailed information about O.C.G.A. §50-18-70 et seq click here.
The Open Records Act only requires the production of records that actually exist and are on hand.
