Budgets - State of Georgia

January 14, 2021
Georgia Chamber of Commerce

The State Fiscal Year begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th each year. The House and Senate will begin appropriations hearings next week and they expect to expedite this process. This year the hearings will take a virtual format and legislators are encouraged to join the meetings online. The appropriations legislation for 2021 legislative session is likely to be released early next week.

At Thursday’s State of the State Address, Governor Kemp announced his budget plan for the upcoming year which will not include any additional budget cuts. This is expected to provide a positive outcome for education and healthcare funding during the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
