Development Authority of Peach County Hosts Electric Cities of Georgia Community Bus Tour

FORT VALLEY, GA – August 12, 2025 – The Development Authority of Peach County (DAPC) today hosted the annual Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG) Community Bus Tour, welcoming a group of statewide economic development project managers, industry leaders, and state partners to explore the county’s assets and opportunities for growth. The visit to Peach County was a key stop on ECG’s larger tour route through Central Georgia.

The tour group’s visit to Fort Valley was highlighted by a stop at Fort Valley State University (FVSU), a cornerstone of the community's economic and workforce development. The visitors were treated to a special presentation and lunch, followed by a comprehensive tour of the university's beautiful and historic campus. The FVSU administration showcased its academic programs, research initiatives, and partnerships that are instrumental in preparing a skilled workforce for the region's businesses.

"We were honored to welcome the ECG Community Bus Tour and showcase the incredible resources we have here in Peach County," said BJ Walker, Executive Director of the Development Authority of Peach County. "Fort Valley State University is a vital partner in our mission to attract and retain business. This tour provided us with a powerful platform to demonstrate how our community is building a vibrant, future-ready workforce."

The ECG Community Bus Tour is an annual event designed to give state-level economic development professionals a firsthand look at the unique strengths of Georgia’s public power communities. By meeting with local leaders and touring key sites, the project managers gain valuable insights that assist them in matching prospective businesses with the ideal location to meet their needs.

“The annual bus tour is a unique opportunity to build strong relationships with our communities and understand the drivers of their local economies,” said Lisa Martin, Chairwoman of the Peach Regional Chamber of Commerce. “Peach County, with its strategic location and incredible assets like Fort Valley State University, is a prime example of the innovative growth happening in our community.”

The successful visit underscored the collaborative spirit between local and statewide organizations, working together to foster a business-friendly environment and promote economic prosperity throughout Georgia.
