Digital Shelf Labels Coming to Wal-Mart

June 9, 2024
DAPC

Digital Shelf Lables (DSLs) are coming to Wal-Mart and the retailer believes it will be a game-changer for employees and shoppers alike.

For employees, it's going to increase productivity, simplify stock replenishment and help process order picking and fulfillment.  For shoppers, it will help ensure prices are current and for the correct item.   Wal-Mart also believes it will improve their environmental footprint by reducing operational waste.

Walmart stores have over 120,000 products on their shelves and each item has an individual paper shelf tag.  It's easy to see where they'll save time, money and resources if each of those products required pricing updates, their famous "Rollbacks" and/or markdowns.  Wal-Mart will use VusionGroup as the vendor for the DSLs.
